The 2026 KIIDD Symposium takes place October 12–14, 2026 on the campus of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen), hosted by the Kobilka Institute of Innovative Drug Discovery (KIIDD) at the School of Medicine.

We are honored to welcome you to the KIIDD Symposium 2026, a premier international gathering dedicated to the frontiers of membrane protein biology and therapeutic innovation. Hosted by the Kobilka Institute of Innovative Drug Discovery (KIIDD) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, this three-day event convenes a distinguished cohort of Nobel Laureates, leading structural biologists, pharmacologists, and AI experts from around the globe. In an era where membrane proteins—particularly G Protein-Coupled Receptors (GPCRs), ion channels, and transporters—remain the primary targets for modern medicine, deciphering their atomic architecture, dynamic behaviors, and signaling nuances is more critical than ever. This symposium serves as a dynamic nexus to bridge the gap between fundamental structural insights and clinical applications, exploring how cutting-edge technologies are reshaping the landscape of drug discovery. Established on April 10, 2017, at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, the Kobilka Institute of Innovative Drug Discovery (KIIDD) is named in honor of 2012 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, Professor Brian K. Kobilka, recognizing his groundbreaking work on G protein-coupled receptors. Bolstered by significant government funding, KIIDD has cultivated a world-class research ecosystem featuring the Kobilka Cryo-Electron Microscopy Center (KEMC), the Advanced Mass Spectrometry facility (KMS), and other cutting-edge platforms. Our multidisciplinary team is dedicated to discovering novel therapeutics for challenging membrane protein targets, including complex receptors and transporters. Beyond pioneering research, KIIDD serves as a dynamic nexus connecting academia, biotechnology, and the pharmaceutical industry. Through targeted symposia and collaborative initiatives, we unite global experts to share knowledge and accelerate the development of life-saving treatments for unmet medical needs.

The Kobilka Cryo-Electron Microscopy Center (KEMC), operated by the Kobilka Institute of Innovative Drug Discovery (KIIDD) and funded by the Shenzhen Municipal and Longgang District Governments, stands as a premier high-performance biomedical imaging platform dedicated to accelerating structural biology and drug discovery. Equipped with world-class instrumentation—including two 300kV Titan Krios G3i systems, a 120kV Talos 120C, and advanced data processing infrastructure—KEMC delivers atomic-resolution insights into biological macromolecules and membrane proteins, serving as an indispensable engine for innovation. Since launching its shared service initiative in 2021, the Center has empowered over 30 external research institutes and biopharmaceutical enterprises, fostering deep collaborations with global top-tier universities to drive scientific breakthroughs. we warmly invite researchers and industry partners from around the world to visit, collaborate, and leverage our state-of-the-art facilities to shape the future of medicine.
