About
Dr. Jian Huang is a Junior Principal Investigator at the Institute of Bio-Architecture and Bio-Interactions (IBABI), Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation (SMART). He received his B.S. and Ph.D. from Tsinghua University and completed his postdoctoral training in Professor Nieng Yan’s laboratory at Princeton University. In 2024, he established his independent research group at SMART. To date, Dr. Huang has published over 32 papers in leading journals, including Nature, Cell, Vita, Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology, Cell Research, and Cell Chemical Biology. His research combines structural biology and medicinal chemistry to elucidate the working mechanisms and ligand modulation of disease-associated membrane proteins, with a particular focus on transporters and ion channels. By integrating high-resolution structural analysis with functional characterization, his group seeks to guide the rational design and optimization of selective modulators. Through this effort, they aim to achieve precise control of membrane protein function, accelerate structure-guided drug discovery, and facilitate the development of novel therapeutic strategies.
