About
Peter Gmeiner received his Ph.D. from the University of Munich, Germany. He was a postdoctoral associate in Henry Rapoport’s laboratory at the University of California in Berkeley, USA. Upon receiving his habilitation, He returned to Germany and was appointed as a Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Bonn. Since October 1996, Peter Gmeiner has held the Chair of Medicinal Chemistry at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU).
Peter Gmeiner's research spans the structure-based design, synthesis, and pharmacological investigation of novel G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) ligands. Within these studies, subtype- and functionally selective GPCR ligands are of particular interest.
